Before I dive deep in sharing all my favorite locations with you, I have a few things I want you to keep in mind:

If you have a specific location in mind that is not on here--that is totally fine! These are just suggestions! I love using new spots as well, especially if they have sentimental value for you.

These locations are merely the background of your images, you/your family will be the real focus!

This location guide is not just about choosing what looks prettiest, but also to help inform you how accessible and "easy" a location is. There is absolutely no shame in choosing a location that is your favorite simply because it is close to home!

Locations are listed in no particular order of significance.

ACCESSIBILITY RATING

A PERFECT 5/5! Just steps from parking lot and available handicap spots, this location is perfect for EVERYONE!

HERITAGE PARK

Located directly behind the Canton police department, this spot offers beautiful all-day light in the middle of the 'burbs! Ideal for families who have young children that may not be as happy after a long car ride or later in the day,there is a large playground around the corner to run out energy if needed.

A walking trail can be found about 1/4 mile from this location to also use during our session if you’d like.

Free parking. Restrooms are available. Pet friendly.

Canton

ACCESSIBILITY RATING

While this park and it’s pathways are rather large, it is very handicap accessible with rather smooth terrain. Plenty of parking in the lot. Most aquatic areas are gated off.

GALLUP PARK

Three miles of asphalt scenic pathways that traverse small islands, large shaded foliage areas, located right along the Huron River and Geddes Pond. Also features an adorable butterfly garden.

Parking is free. Pet friendly. Restrooms are available.

This is a popular park, most likely will have plenty of passerby’s we will have to let walk through.

Ann Arbor

Ann Arbor

MATTHAEI BOTANICAL GARDENS

Also located in Ann Arbor is the botanical gardens. This spot is great year-round and offers a vast array of different plant life to as backdrop, as well as seating areas for photo ops. The gardens have 3 areas: tropical house, temperate house, and arid house. This location also offers an outdoor garden, which is gorgeous during the summer.

Not pet friendly. Parking is $1.00/30 minutes. Cash or card is accepted at the pay station. Restrooms are available.

This spot is best at any time of the day and is nice and toasty 365 days of the year (Exception of outdoor areas)

ACCESSIBILITY RATING

If accessibility is important to your family, this spot is likely not for you. Sand on the beach makes for difficulty moving strollers and wheelchairs. Many areas of the piers are not gated off and may pose a danger to children.

LUNA PIER

This is a gorgeous coastal hideaway located about 10 miles South of Monroe, on Lake Erie. Watching over the beach stands a bold brick red lighthouse. Paved into the sunset stands a pier of

Dosg welcome on the pier but not on the beach. Restrooms are available.

Parking is free but you must get a “resident parking” sticker from the booth at the beach entrance.

Luna Pier

The sun rises in the east, so if you'd like a gorgeous golden hour session on the beach- I'll see you at 6am! If not, no worries. Beach photos turn out beautiful at all times of the day!

If accessibility is important to your family, this spot is likely not for you. Best for walking kids or those who can easily be couple hills & slightly bumpy, long paths to get to where we need to be. Plenty of parking and handicap spaces available. Trails are handicap/stroller accessible, but long and some may be considered steep.

NORTH BAY PARK

Located off of 94 and S Huron St, this lake view also offers a woodland look. Lagoons, waterfronts, bridges, a gorgeous wooden boardwalk and dirt trail systems. Stunning golden grass in thee Fall. The boardwalk along the lake is fenced but the causeway with arched bridges is not.

This location is pet friendly. Restrooms are available. Parking is free.

Ypsilanti

FORT GRATIOT LIGHTHOUSE/BEACH

Right at the tip of the Saint Clair River sits the oldest lighthouse in the state, this location offers a momentous view with the beach, lighthouse, and lush green park behind it. In the Fall the park is very lively in color. Even in the winter this spot has plenty of character when covered in a bed of snow.

Pets not allowed. $10 entry fee per vehicle. Restrooms are available.

ACCESSIBILITY RATING

Handicap accessible walkways, down to the waterfront. Walking distance from parking lot to the lighthouse and beach is minimal.

Port Huron

ISLAND PARK

Two bridges connect the parking areas to the island- which is bordered by the cedar bend nature area, offering us more shooting locations. Magnificent Grecian pillars stand tall on the West side of the island. Expect lots of greens in the spring/summer, and fantastic color change of leaves during mid-October.

Pets are allowed. Restrooms are available. Parking is free.

ACCESSIBILITY RATING

Ann Arbor

Paved pathways offer easy accessibility for wheelchairs and strollers. A bit of walking will be necessary to get to different shooting areas, but walkways are easy and clear with no hills besides the arched bridge.

Rochester Municipal Park

Within walking distance of downtown Rochester, this location offers over one mile of paved walkways and scenic backdrops. Gorgeous year round with wild flowerbeds during the spring and summer, golden grass and colorful leaves during the fall, and amazing views during the winter with snowfall.

Pets are allowed. Restrooms are available. Parking is free.

ACCESSIBILITY RATING

Spacious parking area with handicap spaces, paved pathways all around the park. Very easy accessibility with a bit of walking to get to our shooting areas.

Ann Arbor

Lillie Park

Also located in Ann Arbor is North and South Lillie Park. This spot is great all year and offer beautiful light filtering through green trees in the spring/summer that turn golden for fall.

Pets are not allowed. Parking is free. Restrooms are available.

Paved paths and minimal walking as well as accessible parking make this spot a perfect 5/5 for accessibility.

SEASONAL LOCATIONS

We live in the beautiful four-season state of Michigan, which means some spots look VERY different throughout the year. These locations all offer something special that only happens once a year!

SUMMER

Peony's bloom in late May and can add a fun pop of summer vibes to your photos. Peony option is available at Nichols Arboretum in Ann Arbor Memorial Day through mid June.

Fully Accessible to the public. Parking is free, small walking distance with one slightly steep slope.

I want to end with the same note I began with--choosing a location is fun, but it does not dictate how great your images will turn out. It is MY job to make any location, on any day, with any light look amazing. This guide was simply made to help educate you in choosing a location that works best for you/your family. This is YOUR story.
